Hillel Council of New England (HCNE) provides a Jewish campus community to students who attend small Universities and Colleges in Boston and New England with emerging Jewish student communities. When you think of Hillel at the campuses we serve, know that it is Hillel Council staff providing support and programming to Jewish students, wherever they are on their journey. In addition, HCNE also provides critical regional programming, leadership development training, consulting and advising services for both lay and student leadership among BOTH the established Hillel Foundations and for emerging campuses.
New England is the home of many of the finest educational institutions in the nation, attracting an estimated 30,000 of the brightest Jewish students from all of North America and the world. Although they come from increasingly diverse Jewish backgrounds and affiliations, they share the common experience of attending college away from home, often for the first time. Our challenge as a Jewish community is to provide them with a safe environment in which to explore the major life choices they will make over the four college years. Hillel Council gives them the opportunity to do so.
As part of our ongoing commitment to create meaningful connections for our students to Israel, HCNE is significantly involved in Combined Jewish Philanthropies' (CJP) Birthright Israel program ensuring that students at small colleges have the same opportunities as those at larger schools. Lastly, HCNE provides financial oversight to the larger Boston Hillel Foundations at Boston University, Brandeis, MIT, Northeastern and Tufts University.
